Construction of Bikoe Production Fields Access Road Kicks Off
On January 30, 2025, a team dispatched by the General Manager of SODECAO officially launched the construction works of the access road to the production fields of Bikoe, as well as the repairs of critical points on the access road. This initiative follows a preparatory visit that took place on December 13, 2024.
The launch ceremony was attended by the Divisional Officer of Mvengue and his delegation, traditional authorities, notables, local dignitaries and residents of the area. Their presence testifies to the importance of this project for the local community and the development of the region. The project aims to improve access to the production fields of Bikoe in order to reduce pre- and post-harvest losses in the plantations of this area. It will have a positive impact on the production and marketing of cocoa, a key sector of the Cameroonian economy.
The D.O of Mvengue highlighted the importance of an effective collaboration between the local population and traditional authorities for the successful implementation of the project. He also highlighted the government's particular interest in developing the cocoa sector, the country's second-largest source of foreign exchange.
The representative of the General Manager of SODECAO presented the project details and the provisional timeline. He equally emphasized on effective community engagement, which is crucial for the success of this first phase.
Traditional authorities and local populations expressed their gratitude to the General Manager for the implementation of this long-awaited project since 2009, aimed at reducing pre- and post-harvest losses. A family photo was taken to commemorate this important milestone.
